Hi and welcome,

My name is Ruth Campbell and I am the founder of The Balm Company.

Growing up with Caribbean heritage, I was surrounded by the use of herbs and plants to support every day health. Natural remedies were often the first port of call, and from an early age I developed a deep appreciation for the benefits of plants and their ability to care for the body.

This connection stayed with me. I have always been drawn to apothecary-style health stores, places filled with herbs, oils and natural medicines and I naturally looked to nature first when caring for my own beauty and skin.

A holistic view of the Skin

I believe our skin often reflects what is happening within the body. When we nourish ourselves well it frequently shows through our hair, skin and nails.

For this reason, I believe natural ingredients, can be deeply beneficial over time in promoting healthy, balanced skin.

Experience and Expertise

Alongside this personal connection, I bring over 16 years of professional experience as a make up artist and beauty lecturer, working with a wide range of skin types, tones and conditions.

This experience has given me a deep understanding of how skin behaves, how it reacts to products, and what it truly needs to remain healthy and resilient.

I have always loved creating natural products, and The Balm Company grew from a desire to create my own apothecary-style skincare range - one that could help others care for their skin in a gentle, effective way.

Using research alongside my professional knowledge of the skin I formulate handmade natural beauty products that focus on addressing common skin concerns while supporting the skin barrier, rather than compromising it, 

Each product is created with intention, using carefully selected plant oils and botanicals that work in harmony with the skin combining traditional botanical knowledge with scientific research and modern understanding of skin function.
